Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 22, 2025

Welcome to SideMemo. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our Chrome extension.

1. Information We Don't Collect

SideMemo is built with a "Local-First" philosophy. This means we do not collect, store, or have access to any of the following personal data:

  • Your notes, ideas, or any text you enter.
  • Screenshots you capture.
  • The content of web pages you visit.
  • Your browsing history.
  • Your IP address or location data.

We do not have a backend server to store your data. All your information is yours and yours alone.

2. Where Your Data is Stored

All the data you create with SideMemo is stored locally on your computer using your browser's built-in storage solution (IndexedDB). This data is private to your browser profile and is not transmitted over the internet to us or any third party.

Because your data is stored locally, it is your responsibility to back it up. You can export your notes at any time.

3. Third-Party Services

SideMemo does not integrate with any third-party analytics or advertising services. We do not track your usage of the extension.

4. Future Cloud Sync (Optional)

We are planning to offer an optional cloud sync feature in the future. If we do, this feature will be opt-in. We will update this policy with clear information on how data is encrypted and stored if you choose to use this service.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes.
